Salem County Historical Society’s Summer Quarterly Meeting and Ice Cream Social
The Salem County Historical Society will be hosting its Summer Quarterly Meeting and Ice Cream Social on Sunday, June 8, 2025. The event will take place at 1:30 p.m. in the Society’s courtyard at 83 Market St. Salem, NJ 08079. Our presenter for this meeting will be Jode Hillman. "The Sportsman's Calendar: A Historical Perspective of Hunting and Fishing in Salem County, New Jersey.
Join New Jersey artist and historian Jode Hillman for A discussion of seasonal hunting and fishing activities that traditionally occurred in and around Salem County, New Jersey.
Jode Hillman is a resident of Gloucester County; however, he spends much of his time in rural Salem and Cumberland County. He is an avid outdoorsman and conservationist. Jode received a Bachelor’s degree in American history from Rowan University and makes his living as a professional artist and decoy carver. He has been featured in Decoy magazine, Hunting and Fishing collectibles, and numerous other publications. He also serves on the New Jersey State Migratory Bird Commission, which is responsible for setting the hunting seasons for ducks and other migratory game birds. Jode has had one of his wood ducks featured on the New Jersey waterfowl stamp, and his work can be found in public and private collections throughout the country and abroad.
