The Salem County Historical Society will host its Summer Quarterly Meeting and Ice Cream Social on Sunday, June 9, 2024. The event will occur at 1:30 p.m. in the Society’s courtyard at 83 Market St. Salem, NJ 08079. Our presenter for this meeting will be Lou Anne Booz, who will discuss five plants every gardener should have.

Lou Anne Booz was born and raised in Woodstown, New Jersey. After 52 years in the medical field, she became a Master Gardener through Rutgers University. Master Gardeners are trained volunteers who assist the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES) Cooperative Extension in its mission to deliver horticulture programs and information to the general public. Lou Anne and her late husband, Lee, saved the William Nicholson House (1730) and the "Swing " cabin in Mannington Township from the bulldozer in 1998. Lee portrayed the cabin as a colonial tavern with appliances and electronics concealed in antiques. In retirement, Lou Anne buys and sells antiques, provides yard consulting services, and cooks meals for anyone who needs them.

This event is FREE and OPEN to the public!
